7 Food Blogs to Follow this Summer or The Pressure is On…bring it!

Yesterday I noticed a spike in people who were viewing this blog and a few more comments than normal.  In trying to track down the reason, I found this blog post by WordPress.com

7 Food Blogs to Follow This Summer

“With the official first day of summer right around the corner, now is a great time to start collecting recipes for your favorite warm-weather treats.

You’ll find endless inspiration by browsing through topics like recipe, grilling, and summer in the WordPress.com Reader, and discover tons of great ideas by exploring our collection of recommended food blogs.

Here are seven mouthwatering recipes from a handful of fantastic blogs that are sure to delight all summer long:”…

Imagine my surprise when I saw “We Call Him Yes!Chef!” listed as one of the 7.  (We were Number Two on the list…probably not listed in any particular order, but I like to think it was.)

I had to read the blog post several times before I realized what was going on. (Sometimes I’m a little dense.)  When Yes!Chef! got home, I excitedly told him about it.  I don’t think he was nearly as impressed as I was.  I think he said something like, “Hmmph!  That’s nice.  I think I’ll fix spaghetti for dinner?”  This is why I love this man.  He’s as humble as pie (and sweet, too.)

Plus, he is always willing to pose for me and my hare-brained photo schemes.

At any rate, thank you to WordPress and to the people that have been encouraging us in our Food blog pursuits.  Welcome to the new followers.  I appreciate any and all comments. Yes!Chef! thanks you, too…in his own humble way…

Now…on to making more tasty food!

    1. I am making the citrus Carnitas at the moment – so I had to look up the recipe again. But, main question: Where can I get that Hawaiian shirt in the contemplating recipes pic?!?!??!??!?

By the way, I seared the pork shoulder on the grill after marinating- lets see how it does. Looks good! Second time we made these carnitas. First time was awesome, but I have high hopes for the searing.

      1. Thanks! I love that shirt and Y!C! has had it for quite a while. I couldn’t tell you where he got it. Seared pork shoulder on the grill is always good news. Hope it turns out even better than the first time.

  1. Congratulations to you both for making it on the list!! I have had the true honor of enjoying a meal prepared by “Yes Chef!” and I enjoyed it very much along with my family. Have you ever seen any other kids fight for the green beans “Yes Chef!” made like my girls did? It is true testament to his skills.

  2. congrats!!!! lovely family and beutiful pics!
Your blog is very clean, fresh and yummy, i just rebloged the post in to my blog to share…
Good job and hope to know which bottle of wine you open for celebrate the news.

  3. Yep, I subscribed because I’m a foodie and the photos looked fabulous – plus I skimmed through your blog and like your low-key approach. I didn’t even bother checking out any of the other 6 food blogs.

  4. Ok…you two are out of control. I laughed out loud at each of your pictures. I am so delighted for you and this honor. Not very surprised since this is my favorite blog it just took Word Press longer to figure it out. 😉

    1. Hahaha, Chef Connie. You can see he is a very good sport when it comes to being my victim…er, uh…subject. Thank you again for your encouraging words. My husband always has me read your blog and he doesn’t really read any other food blogs on a regular basis. 😉

  5. So excited to find you via the WordPress email yesterday 🙂 Your blog looks like the perfect mixture of food and fun! What could be better? Looking forward to all of your posts!!! Congrats!!!

  6. I, like many of the above, found you on the 7 Food Blogs post, and am so glad I did. I am always looking for new and inspired ways to bring good food to the table, and I love to cook. It is a shame that in this hurry up world it is not often that many people stop and take the time to have a good home cooked meal. It is pre-packaged garbage loaded with preservatives and other crap that is killing society and laying such ‘waist’ (pun intended) to our younger generation. I will be making good use of your recipes and share them with friends. Thank you so much, and have a great Memorial Day weekend.

    1. I know what you mean. Sharing the cooking process and then sitting down to a meal that is not hurried and thoughtfully prepared is a luxury in life that few enjoy these days. It’s too bad because they are missing out! I’m glad you enjoy the blog and thank you for your kind words.
