Low and Slow Pork Ribs or Saran Wrap Isn’t just for Weight Loss Anymore

So, it’s back to this…perfecting pork ribs.  Yes!Chef! loved the last batch of ribs that he made, but he came across a technique that really intrigued him, so he had to try it.  I’m always a willing guinea pig when it comes to most of his food and I will photograph anything he decides to cook.

Ha!  Just kidding.  They don’t have enough meat on their tiny little bones.

Chiles and Limes go together like Love and Marriage

Chile Lime Infused Dinner for Two
Chile Lime Infused Dinner for Two

It’s been two weeks now since my daughter’s wedding to a wonderful young man.  The wedding was lovely and we were lucky the weather was not hot, nor cold.  The weekend before the wedding the temperature was 106 degrees.  Two days after the wedding the weather turned quite cold-around 65 degrees- and rainy.  This past weekend, the weather was 109 degrees.  The temperature on my daughter’s wedding day was 89 degrees.  God was definitely smiling on this wedding.

Give your loved ones a poke…Chocolate Mint Poke Cake, that is.

20130610-_LS_7703 web

Do you have childhood memories of Poke Cake?  I used to make Poke Cake for my kids when they were small, mostly because it was easy and they loved it.  Sometimes I made it with Jello, but mostly I made it with pudding and Cool Whip topping. My youngest (who just turned 20) does not ever remember me making a poke cake.  He only remembers cupcakes.

Orange fish is one of my favorite fish to eat.

But, don’t worry, this post is not about eating Clown Fish…or even goldfish.

Steaks and Mistakes or This is the best Flank Steak and Chimichurri meal that I have ever made

Flank Steak with Chimichurri Sauce

I love steak. I am not a meat and potatoes girl.  I am a steak with yummy sauces girl.  Although I will eat potatoes when Yes!Chef! makes them (and he loves potatoes), I can do without them for the most part.  But pair up a great steak (and that includes ground up types of steak like hamburger) with a great sauce (not gravy) and some interesting veggies and I am a happy woman.

Happy Memorial Day, even though it’s a little late.  We spent the day, actually almost the whole weekend, at Tahoe, which is our habit.  This year, though, we had no family with us.  It was just Yes!Chef!, me and Obie T. Dogg.
