Roast Beast or Family Birthday Happiness

I am starting to fall a little behind with Yes!Chef!’s food blogging.  He’s pumping out great food faster than I can take pictures, edit them, taste the food and blog.  Then, there’s this whole world around me that is begging to be photographed, to say nothing of my photography business.  So many beautiful people, so little time.   I’ve been as busy as our Lavender Bees.  All this to say that I have some heavy duty catching up to do, hopefully in the next few days.

Skirt Steak and Artichokes or Let’s go to Tahoe for the weekend

We spent last weekend at one of my favorite places in the world (not that I have traveled the world over, but even if I had, I think this would still be my favorite place because this is where I grew up)…Lake Tahoe.  It was kind of spur of the moment, but the weather had been so nice and it was supposed to remain nice, so I talked Yes!Chef! into going there for a couple of days.  We are most lucky to live about one hour from Lake Tahoe and, even luckier, we are blessed to have a cabin up there that my family has owned for a very long time.

Mushroom Soup or Can I Train Obie to Hunt for Mushrooms that won’t Kill Us?

My mom would let me and my brother pick what we wanted for our Special Birthday Meal and I always chose this chicken.  When my kids were small they didn’t like mushrooms so that whole meal was a non-starter.  Even now, the male children still do not like mushrooms.

Tomato Soup or Look What Followed Me Home!

Soup Mix

With all that snow we had the other day I began to crave some nice hot soup.  Two of my comfort soups are tomato soup and mushroom soup.  Yes! Chef! was going into town to drop the youngest off at his job and I suggested that he pick up some tomato soup for me.

Needless to say, he did just what I asked and came home with a can of familiar tomato soup.  He plunked the can on the counter and I thanked him very much.  However, the thought of eating condensed canned tomato soup was very unappetizing, so I ate oatmeal cookies instead. (Yipes!)
